Spain SIRTAP
Use this to quickly assess program maturity and supplier depth.
The SIRTAP program, launched by the Spanish Ministry of Defence, develops Spain's first fully indigenous high-performance tactical UAS for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, capable of all-weather operations with over 20 hours endurance, 2,000+ km range, and advanced payloads. As of mid-2025, the program is in advanced development, with the first prototype assembled and ready for ground tests after Critical Design Review in June 2024, inaugural flight planned for 2025, first system delivery in 2026, serial production in 2027, and completion by 2030; Spain ordered nine systems (27 aircraft total) in November 2023. From a defense-intelligence perspective, SIRTAP enhances Spain's tactical ISR, ISTAR, and C4I integration for land/sea operations, border security, and force protection, bolstering strategic autonomy, industrial base via Airbus in Getafe, and positioning Spain as a UAV technology leader.
