Where the information comes from

Procurement records draw on TED, UK Contracts Finder and Find a Tender, US procurement sources including SAM.gov, NATO NSPA, and published DSCA Foreign Military Sales notifications. Coverage and freshness vary by source; a notification or approval is not the same as an awarded contract.

Product specifications and background on organizations and programs may also come from manufacturers, other public websites and research. Source links and field evidence, where available, show the basis of a record. A website link identifies an organization; it is not necessarily evidence for every fact on its profile.

How we build the database

1. Collect: scheduled imports retrieve public notices. Source outages, access restrictions and processing failures can delay updates; inclusion within a fixed time is not guaranteed.
2. Structure and connect: automated rules and AI help classify, translate, extract and link records. Research fills gaps without replacing authoritative official values.
3. Check: validation, duplicate checks and review decisions catch problems. Automated review and manual corrections contribute; individual records are not all personally verified by an analyst.
4. Explain uncertainty: quality scores combine source reliability, completeness and cross-references. They are indicators for investigation, not certification that every value is correct. Missing facts remain unknown.

What the numbers mean

The database covers visible public information. Classified procurements, unpublished purchases and incomplete source coverage leave gaps. Published FMS notifications are included where collected; they describe proposed or approved sales and should not be read as completed purchases.

Contract values can describe a framework ceiling, a single award or an estimate. EUR summaries use reference exchange rates for comparison; the original amount and currency remain relevant. Unknown values contribute no amount, and overlapping scopes mean a total is not a measure of realized spending.

List totals depend on their filters. A country leading a program differs from one participating in it; an organization profile differs from a supplier with recorded awards. Follow the relevant list and its scope before comparing counts.

Verify critical deadlines, access conditions and commercial facts against the original source. Records may contain errors or duplicate amendments. Use the site’s Help menu to report a problem.
