ANKA is a medium-altitude long-endurance UAV developed by Turkish Aerospace (TUSAS) for the Turkish Armed Forces' reconnaissance, surveillance and target detection needs, with design work starting in 2004 and a first flight in December 2010. On 25 October 2013 the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM, now SSB) signed a serial production contract with TUSAS for 10 ANKA-S aircraft and ground systems for the Air Force, adding satellite control, an encrypted data link and a national flight control computer. Deliveries to the armed forces began in February 2018, and by August 2022 the Turkish Navy also operated four ANKA-S and four ANKA-B.
