The Spanish Ministry of Defence bought four General Atomics MQ-9A Block 5 aircraft, designated NR.05 Predator B in Spain, through US Foreign Military Sales for the Spanish Air and Space Force, where 233 Squadron of Ala 23 at Talavera la Real air base flies them. The US notified the sale of four aircraft and two mobile ground control stations in 2015, Spain placed the order in 2016, and the first Spanish Predator B flew in January 2020 as part of a system of four aircraft and three ground control stations. The US notified kits, launchers and pylons to let the aircraft carry weapons in 2024 and an extension of support services in 2025 that raised the support case to an estimated USD 310 million. In October 2026 the Council of Ministers authorised a EUR 20 million amendment to the Predator B logistics support contract.
