Polish Bayraktar TB2
Use this to quickly assess program maturity and supplier depth.
The Polish Bayraktar TB2 program procured four sets of Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs), each comprising six drones, ground control stations, EO/IR sensors, weapons, simulators, training, and logistics support, to fulfill an urgent operational requirement for tactical ISR and strike capabilities in the Polish Air Force. Initiated in May 2021 with a $270 million contract, deliveries were completed by May 2024, rendering the system fully operational at the 12th UAV Base in Mirosławiec, with ongoing enhancements including a three-year (extendable) maintenance deal via NSPA and technology transfer for depot-level maintenance. From a defense-intelligence perspective, it bolsters Poland's NATO eastern flank deterrence amid regional tensions, proven effective in Ukraine for reconnaissance and precision strikes despite limitations against dense air defenses, and supports studies for a new 'Unmanned Forces' branch.
