Poland SHORAD (Pilica+/Narew/San)
Use this to quickly assess program maturity and supplier depth.
The Poland SHORAD program, encompassing Pilica+, Narew, and SAN, aims to develop a multi-tiered short-range air defense capability to protect Polish Armed Forces units, facilities, air bases, and infrastructure from low-altitude threats including multi-role aircraft, cruise missiles, and UAVs, complementing the Wisła (Patriot) system and replacing obsolete platforms like Kub, Osa, and Newa SC. It is currently in procurement and development, with a 2021 framework agreement for Narew leading to 2023 contracts for over 1,000 CAMM-ER missiles and 138 launchers, deliveries scheduled 2027-2035, first Narew live firings in 2026, and SAN entering service by 2028. Strategically, it bolsters Poland's NATO eastern flank defense against Russian aerial threats, fosters domestic industry growth via PGZ consortium, and integrates with allied systems for layered air defense. Pilica+ represents the very short-range tier with initial deliveries ongoing.
