German HUSAR
Use this to quickly assess program maturity and supplier depth.
The German HUSAR program, or Highly Efficient Unmanned System for Medium-Range Reconnaissance, develops the Rheinmetall LUNA NG tactical ISR drone for the Bundeswehr to provide real-time targeting data, shorten sensor-to-shooter timelines, and integrate into unmanned C2 networks, replacing legacy LUNA and KZO systems while drawing lessons from Ukraine. As of early 2026, the program is in procurement with a 2026 field trial successfully completed, first production system delivered in Q2 2025, and full deliveries expected by end of 2026. From a defense-intelligence perspective, HUSAR enhances NATO eastern flank deterrence through networked drone swarms for resilient reconnaissance, battle damage assessment, and kill chain compression in high-threat environments.
