The French Ministry of the Armed Forces buys General Atomics MQ-9A Reaper aircraft through US Foreign Military Sales for the French Air and Space Force, where the 33rd Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Attack Wing at Cognac air base flies them. The US notified a sale of up to 16 Reapers in 2013, the type entered French service that year, and France ordered 12 aircraft in four batches of three, the first two as Block 1 and the last two as Block 5. In 2022 the US notified follow-on contractor logistics support and up to eight communications intelligence sensor pods for the fleet, and in January 2025 the Air and Space Force retired its six Block 1 aircraft, with 12 Block 5 Extended Range aircraft replacing them. In June 2026 a Reaper operating site opened at Solenzara air base in Corsica.
