Administrația Națională Apele Române ("Romanian Waters"), established 2002 by government emergency ordinance (OUG 107/2002) reorganising a former national company, is Romania's national authority for state-owned water resources and the National Water Management System. It manages flood-protection infrastructure, reservoirs, hydrological monitoring and EU water-directive implementation; a public infrastructure agency, not a defence body.
