Also known as: M-SHORAD
M-SHORAD, named SGT Stout in June 2024, is the US Army's Stryker-based Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense system, developed to protect maneuver forces as drone and other air threats grew. Leonardo DRS configures the weapons and radar package and General Dynamics Land Systems installs it on the Stryker; the Army received the requirement in February 2018 and its first M-SHORAD battalion received its first systems in April 2021. By April 2026 four active battalions had been fielded or were being fielded, the Army had decided not to field the 50 kW laser Increment 2, and the Next Generation Short Range Interceptor for Increment 3 was in developmental testing. The Army planned USD 729 million for M-SHORAD in fiscal 2026 and requested USD 712.7 million in fiscal 2027 procurement for 14 more systems.
