Israel Iron Beam (Or Eitan)

Iron Beam is a high-power laser interception system that the Israel Ministry of Defense's Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D) leads with Rafael as prime contractor and Elbit Systems supplying the laser source. It is built to intercept rockets, mortars and drones and to complement Iron Dome, David's Sling and Arrow. In October 2024 the ministry signed contracts worth about NIS 2 billion to expand serial production, and the first operational system was delivered to the Israeli Air Force in December 2025. In June 2026 IDF officials said too few batteries had yet been produced for the system to be widely effective.
