Bulgaria's General Directorate 'Border Police', the national border-control and security service under the Ministry of Interior, responsible for green/blue border monitoring and passport control at border checkpoints, including maritime and river units. Established in 1997 when border protection was separated from the armed forces; folded into the National Police Service structure in 2006 while remaining directly subordinate to the Interior Minister.
