The General Aviation Inspectorate (IGAv) is the central aviation unit of Romania's Ministry of Internal Affairs, founded in 1948 and headquartered in Bucharest. It flies helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft for emergency response, search and rescue, public order and air medical evacuation as part of the national SMURD emergency system, from five aviation units and ten aeromedical points. Its fleet includes Airbus EC135 and Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk helicopters, with H145, H160 and C-27J NextGen aircraft on order, so it is an active buyer of aircraft, avionics and mission equipment.
