UK government research organisation responsible for developing nuclear fusion energy, operating as a non-departmental public body under the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Runs fusion R&D (notably at Culham, Oxfordshire) and also manages decommissioning and materials research at legacy nuclear sites. Not a defence/procurement body in the strict sense but a state R&D authority.
