The Military University of Technology in Warsaw (WAT) is Poland's civil-military technical university, supervised by the Ministry of National Defence, educating both military cadets who commission as second lieutenants and civilian students. It is a significant Polish defence R&D institution: it built Poland's first laser in 1963 and co-developed the MSBS/GROT 5.56mm rifle family, and runs programmes in cybersecurity, space engineering and unmanned systems. It appears in procurement records both as a contracting authority for research equipment and as a defence research partner.
