Quick decision context for procurement relevance and maturity.
In February 2024, the Australian Government awarded Boeing Defence Australia an A$400 million contract for three additional MQ-28 Ghost Bat unmanned combat aircraft built to the new 'Block 2' standard. Block 2 represents an 'operational version' of the earlier test Block 1 aircraft. The contract included developments to the wing, GPS, sensors, mission payloads, integrated combat system and autonomous systems. These aircraft are part of the AIR6015 Autonomous Collaborative Platforms – Air Program, designed to support the Royal Australian Air Force's development of operational collaborative combat aircraft capability.
Australia contracted for nine Block II aircraft.
