The NATO AGS RQ-4D Phoenix contract, valued at 1,200,000,000 EUR and awarded to Northrop Grumman, funds the procurement and support of the Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) system. This high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platform, based on the Global Hawk, consists of five RQ-4D Phoenix aircraft equipped with advanced radar sensors (MP-RTIP, SAR) for persistent, wide-area intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) to provide NATO member states with near-real-time situational awareness for missions including troop protection, border control, crisis management, and disaster relief.
