Design, develop, deliver, integrate, test and demonstrate a compact, portable, low-cost, and reliable counter UAS high energy laser weapon system(helws) using the latest available commercial components

The Department of the Navy, through the Office of Naval Research, awarded MZA Associates Corporation an $18.7 million contract to design, develop, deliver, integrate, test, and demonstrate a compact, portable, low-cost, and reliable counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) high energy laser weapon system (HELWS) using the latest commercial components. This system is intended to enable U.S. Marines on the ground or sailors aboard surface warships to destroy, disable, or discourage hostile UAVs near Marine units, ships, or forward bases. It supports broader ONR efforts in directed-energy weapons to neutralize enemy UAV threats with reduced size, weight, power, and cooling requirements.
