The assignment consists of customising a UAV with a docking station. The UAV will be equipped with a range of sensors to determine the biomass and functions of all individual trees in an existing, state-of-the-art, studied forest. In this way, one of the most advanced tree and forest observatories in the world will be created: The Flemish Living Forest Lab. Here, the C-storage capacity of forests and the extent to which forests can help combat climate change will be studied. The customised UAV and docking station will have to have, among others, the following characteristics: - Fully autonomous flights - Waypoint route programmable remotely - Payload between 2 and 4 kg - Minimum flight time with Payload: 20 min - Batteries are charged autonomously - Data is forwarded autonomously - Weatherproof drone box
