UAS DETECTION AND MITIGATION TECHNOLOGIES/SYSTEMS AND REMOTE ID SUPPORT

The FAA awarded General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. a $9.67 million contract to support the development and testing of unmanned aircraft system (UAS) detection and mitigation technologies, along with remote identification (Remote ID) capabilities for the National Airspace System. This procurement supports the FAA's mandate under the 2018 FAA Reauthorization Act to evaluate technologies that can detect errant or hostile UAS and coordinate with federal agencies (DOD, DHS, DOJ, DOE) that have statutory authority to operate counter-UAS systems. The contract enables the FAA to advance certification frameworks and standards for these systems while ensuring they do not adversely affect aviation safety and NAS operations.
