The Department of the Air Force awarded a $1.65 million contract to the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to develop a radar sensor that provides situational awareness of small and large unmanned aerial systems (UAS) as well as manned air traffic. This sensor will enhance flight test operations at the SkyVision test site, a mobile ground-based detect-and-avoid system certified by the FAA for beyond-visual-line-of-sight drone testing. The contract supports AFRL's mission to advance UAS technology validation in civil airspace.
