LongShot Phase 1 Contracts

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) awarded Lockheed Martin a $7.83 million contract for Phase 1 design work on the LongShot program, which aims to develop an air-launched unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of employing multiple air-to-air weapons from standoff range. This UAV, launched from fighter or bomber aircraft, uses multimodal propulsion for efficient ingress and high-energy missile engagements to extend manned aircraft range and reduce pilot risk. Lockheed Martin is one of three companies receiving Phase 1 contracts, with later phases advancing to full-scale demonstrations.
