INSTALLATION OF A DETECT AND AVOIDANCE SYSTEM ON UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES

The Federal Acquisition Service is procuring the installation of a Detect and Avoid (DAA) system on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) from General Atomics Aeronautical Systems for $27,574,364.19. This system enables UAVs to detect and avoid both cooperative and non-cooperative aircraft using radar, TCAS, and ADS-B technologies, fulfilling FAA 'see and avoid' requirements under 14 CFR 91.113. Strategically, it supports the safe integration of UAVs into the U.S. National Airspace System (NAS) and international airspace, as demonstrated in tests with NASA, FAA, and CBP.
