The French General Directorate for Armament (DGA) has awarded a €200 million contract to Airbus Helicopters and Naval Group for the production of six VSR700 uncrewed aerial systems. These systems, configured for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) with surveillance radar, electro-optical sensors, and AIS receivers, will equip the French Navy from 2028 to extend beyond-horizon surveillance capabilities from major surface combatants under the SDAM program. The contract launches serial production following prior framework agreements, enhancing naval operations with a multirole VTOL drone derived from the Cabri G2 helicopter.
