Archived briefing: 21 August 2026. Corrected 7 September 2026: inconsistent totals have been removed and the framework and RFI descriptions clarified. Deadlines are historical.
Utility inspection featured prominently in this selection. Alongside defence requirements, it showed a separate market for aerial operations and usable inspection data.
Utility inspection
TenneT's overhead-line monitoring procurement carried an estimated value of EUR 17 million and a 28 August 2026 deadline. Suppliers needed to assess the complete inspection requirement, including the operating method and data deliverables, rather than assume it was an aircraft purchase. Original notice.
Two award notices illustrated that service market. Energinet selected UNI-FLY for inspection of high-voltage overhead lines, underground cables and gas pipelines, with a disclosed value of about DKK 28.85 million. The wider inspection scope matters when identifying the aircraft, operations and data services required. Award notice.
Lulea Energi Elnat selected Airpelago for drone inspections in a notice disclosing SEK 12 million. Award notice.
Defence and maritime requirements
Sweden's Coast Guard advertised a UAS framework with an estimated value of SEK 8 million and a 14 September deadline. Framework admission provides a route to later call-offs; it does not, by itself, guarantee repeat orders. Original notice.
Belgium sought twelve underwater remotely operated vehicles for users including engineer divers, explosive-ordnance disposal, mine warfare and special forces. Its 18 September deadline concerned an underwater equipment package, rather than aerial drones. Original notice.
NSPA's electronic-warfare pod and payload request for information listed a 16 October deadline. An RFI is an opportunity to explain capability and inform requirements; it is not an invitation to price a final contract or evidence of a funded order. NSPA notice.
What suppliers could act on
Inspection operators could assess the utility requirements, equipment suppliers could examine the Coast Guard framework, and payload developers could contribute to the NATO inquiry. Each required a different commercial response.
