Archived briefing: 9 August 2026. Corrected 7 September 2026: the DHS contracting vehicle was not spending committed that week. Inconsistent totals and an unrelated naval-repair entry have been removed. Deadlines are historical.
A large US counter-drone contracting vehicle stood alongside smaller European requirements for detection, equipment and training. The commercial opportunities differed: access to future task orders in the US, and defined competitions or awards elsewhere.
DHS establishes a route for future orders
Fortem's 4 August announcement described its selection for a five-year DHS counter-drone contract vehicle. Track 1 had an estimated initial ceiling of USD 1.011 billion shared across seven suppliers. The ceiling was a limit on potential orders, not spending committed to one company. Fortem's award announcement.
Detection and equipment requirements
These notices required separate assessments of operating environment, performance requirements and procurement eligibility. An airport detection system and a military counter-drone package are not automatically interchangeable.
Training and target systems
The Czech Ministry of Defence awarded a UAV/aircraft-control and autonomous-systems simulator contract to Resonic, with a disclosed value of about CZK 16.53 million. Award notice.
Germany's BAAINBw also recorded a framework award to DP-DYNAMIC for commercially available target and display drones. A place on the framework creates a route to orders; the notice should not be treated as proof of a fixed repeat-order volume. Award notice.
The selection illustrates demand for the equipment used to detect drones and train against them, as well as for operational aircraft. Follow individual procurement records for later orders and amendments.
