Persistent surveillance linked the most consequential developments in this selection, although they were at different procurement stages. Britain had selected a platform, Greece was seeking bids, and Spain was procuring operations and supporting services.
Britain selects Tekever AR5
On 25 July, the UK Ministry of Defence announced that Tekever's AR5 had been selected to replace Watchkeeper. It described a potential deal of up to GBP 400 million over ten years, an initial six aircraft and up to 24 deliveries by 2029. Entry into service remained subject to signature and final approvals. For a supplier tracking the programme at this date, the next milestones were the signed commitment, initial delivery requirements and support arrangements.
Greece seeks maritime surveillance aircraft
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Island Policy's UAV procurement carried an estimated value of EUR 34.8 million and a 7 September 2026 bid deadline. Its scale made it a substantial requirement in this selection, but the tender value was not an awarded contract. Original notice.
Spain seeks operations and programme support
Fuerteventura Technology Park advertised MALE and/or HAPS platform operations and data-management applications for AGAMENON. The procurement carried an estimated EUR 1 million value and a 4 September deadline. Original notice.
Aircraft availability was only one part of that opportunity. The operating service and delivery of usable data were central to the requirement.
