Squarehead Technology AS is a Norwegian developer and manufacturer of microphone-array sensors. It was founded in 2004 by three physics students at the University of Oslo, is registered in Oslo under Norwegian organisation number 987 307 749, and is headquartered in Nydalen, Oslo, with a subsidiary in the United States.
Its defence product line is Discovair, a family of passive acoustic sensors. The Discovair G2+ is a 128-microphone array with an integrated optical camera that detects, classifies and tracks class I and II drones by their sound. It can be mounted for a 105° sector or, horizontally, as a 360° hemispheric listening dome. Because the sensor emits nothing, it keeps working where radio frequencies are jammed or denied, and it operates undetected. The same array technology is sold for industrial condition monitoring and quality control.
In May 2025 Squarehead announced a contract with the Norwegian Armed Forces, under project P5007, for Discovair sensors and platform integration kits that detect rocket, artillery and mortar fire alongside counter-battery radar. Its acoustic sensor has been integrated with DroneShield's DroneSentry-C2 software since 2020, and in September 2026 UNIFY.C2 announced the integration of the Discovair G2+ into its command-and-control platform. A US Air Force combined synopsis/solicitation of July 2026 (FA558726Q0019), titled «352 SOW Counter sUAS Squarehead», sought a passive, non-emitting counter-sUAS detection system for the 352nd Special Operations Wing at RAF Mildenhall; no award has been recorded.
