Latvia's State Defence Logistics and Procurement Centre (VALIC), a body under the direct authority of the Ministry of Defence. It runs centralised procurement for the whole Latvian defence sector and manages the full life cycle of materiel and technical resources for the Ministry, its subordinate institutions and the National Armed Forces. It was created as part of a supply and logistics reform intended to move administrative logistics work off military personnel so soldiers can focus on training and operational readiness, which makes it the single contracting point for most Latvian defence purchases.
