ARMAEREO is the Italian Ministry of Defence directorate, under the Secretariat General of Defence/National Armaments Directorate, that procures aeronautical and aerospace armament systems for the Italian Armed Forces and other state bodies. It is also Italy's military airworthiness authority: it type-certifies military aircraft, maintains the Military Aircraft Register (RAM), issues airworthiness technical regulations and approves maintenance organisations under AER(EP).P-147. It runs the tendering and contracting for aircraft, UAS and related weapon systems across their whole life cycle.
