The Lithuanian Riflemen's Union is a volunteer paramilitary home-guard organisation founded in Kaunas on 27 June 1919, liquidated under Soviet and Nazi occupation and re-established in 1989. It operates under a dedicated law and under the supervision of the Ministry of National Defence; in wartime its armed formations come under the direct command of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. It trains civilians in military skills including drone operation, cyber and medical support, and runs youth and civic programmes, and it procures its own equipment.
