Forestry Commission

Non-ministerial UK government department responsible for protecting, expanding and promoting the sustainable management of woodlands in England, and for regulating both public and private forestry. It works alongside two partner bodies, Forestry England (which manages the public forest estate) and Forest Research. As a non-ministerial department it acts as a UK contracting authority in its own right, buying survey, monitoring and land-management services.
