Chilean Navy

The Chilean Navy operates a modern fleet including Adelaide-class frigates upgraded with MK-13 Mod 4 missile launchers for Standard SM-2 Block IIIA missiles, Type-23 frigates with advanced 3D radar and CMS 330 systems, Scorpène-class submarines armed with Black Shark torpedoes and SM-39 Exocet missiles, and supports amphibious operations with Marine Corps units. It focuses on coastal defense, high-seas control up to 200 nautical miles, antisubmarine warfare, and strategic projection to safeguard national interests, including ongoing modernization through international partnerships like Foreign Military Sales. As a government military branch, it procures and maintains equipment via programs such as FFG upgrades with BAE Systems and Lockheed Martin, alongside domestic construction plans for multi-purpose ships.
