The Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS) is a department of the European Commission responsible for leading activities in the European defence industry and space sectors. It strengthens the competitiveness and innovation of the European defence technological and industrial base, implements the EU Space Programme including Copernicus, Galileo, and EGNOS, and supports collaborative defence research and investments. DG DEFIS develops regulatory frameworks for space activities and enhances Europe's defence industry responsiveness.
