The UK Ministry of Defence awarded a £20,000,000 supply contract to Viking Arms Ltd on March 7, 2023, for the procurement and support of Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft System (C-sUAS) Smart Weapon Sight (SWS) systems via a framework agreement running until March 7, 2028. The SMASH sight system is designed to increase the probability of hit against small unmanned aircraft at ranges up to 600 meters and can be mounted on rifles including the L85A2/A3, AR10, and AR15, with a total mass not exceeding 2 kilograms. This capability provides British Armed Forces personnel with kinetic interception capability for close combat operations against the growing threat of small unmanned aerial vehicles.
