In 2019, the Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) financed the AW-Drones project with the aim of contributing to the safe use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) by supporting the ongoing EU legislative process for identifying technical standards and procedures. The assessment carried out by the AW-Drones project did not include an assessment of the technical content to determine whether the standards are sufficient to meet the safety objective of the provisions of the relevant regulations. This research tender should focus on the technical assessment of these standards listed in the U-RDP (U-Rolling Development Plan) and recommended by the AW Drones project and new standards introduced by EUSCG (The European UAS Standards Coordination Group) as part of its regular update. This research must also identify potential new standards beyond those listed in the U-RDP to demonstrate compliance with Chapters 2, 3 and 4 and Annex 3 of the U-space Regulation, assess the standards and provide EASA with a recommendation on whether they can be accepted as means of compliance.
