The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) has awarded Nordic Unmanned a framework contract valued at up to EUR 20.5 million for providing multipurpose maritime surveillance services using land- and/or vessel-based VTOL fixed-wing drones with medium range and endurance. Nordic Unmanned will utilize its existing crew and part of its current drone fleet, with some payload and drone upgrades planned from Q3 2023, to support operations including search and rescue, emission monitoring, border surveillance, and general maritime surveillance across Europe. The contract, structured like prior EMSA agreements, enables call-offs over up to four years, ramping up in 2023 and reaching full potential in 2024, enhancing EU maritime security through advanced unmanned systems.
