FPV Drone Procurement - First Contracts

The UK Ministry of Defence is procuring FPV (First Person View) drones worth EUR 45,000,000 as part of the first contracts in the Drone Capability Coalition to meet urgent operational needs and support Ukraine amid its conflict with Russia. These drones, including up to 15 batches of 20 units each capable of carrying 5 kg+ payloads along with ground control stations, are intended for testing and evaluation in Latvia, with successful trials potentially leading to large-scale production of up to 500-1000 drones per month. This initiative reflects the UK's strategic push to scale industrial production of FPV drones for long-term technological advantage, drawing lessons from Ukrainian battlefield use.
