Combat Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems

The Dutch Ministry of Defence (Ministerie van Defensie) is procuring a two-digit number of Skyranger 30 air defence systems from Rheinmetall Air Defence AG, including mobile turrets on armoured vehicles, stationary hooklift platforms, tactical control nodes, integration into existing air defence architecture, simulators, and logistics support. These counter-unmanned aerial systems, equipped with 30mm revolver cannons firing airburst ammunition effective against drones up to 600kg at 5km, are intended to protect combat units, critical sites like the port of Rotterdam, and enhance defences in high-intensity scenarios amid rising drone threats seen in Ukraine. Deliveries begin late 2028, with significant local production in the Netherlands, complementing prior NASAMS and NOMADS systems.
