Quick decision context for procurement relevance and maturity.
The MQ-25 Stingray is the U.S. Navy's first operational, carrier-based unmanned aircraft designed primarily for aerial refueling of manned fighter jets from aircraft carriers. The aircraft can autonomously taxi, take off, fly, and land on carriers, and has proven capability to refuel multiple aircraft types including F/A-18 Super Hornets, E-2D Hawkeyes, and F-35C Lightning IIs. Beyond its primary refueling mission, the MQ-25 also performs intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) functions and is designed to integrate with manned aircraft through manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) operations. The system extends the combat radius of carrier air wings by eliminating the need for manned tanker aircraft to perform refueling duties, allowing those fighters to focus on strike missions.
For four MQ-25A aircraft; awarded August 2018.
