Pegasus SIGINT System Contract

The Pegasus SIGINT System Contract, awarded to Hensoldt Sensors GmbH in June 2021 for approximately €1 billion (or $1.05 billion), funds the development and delivery of the Persistent German Airborne Surveillance System (PEGASUS). This regenerates Germany's strategic airborne signals intelligence (SIGINT) capability using three modified Bombardier Global 6000 business jets equipped with Hensoldt's Kalaetron Integral suite for collecting and analyzing communications intelligence (COMINT) and electronic intelligence (ELINT) from radar and radio emissions across a broad electromagnetic spectrum (30 MHz to 40 GHz). The system supports enemy unit detection, command structure mapping, and situational awareness for the German Air Force (Bundeswehr), with Lufthansa Technik handling aircraft modifications and integration; first aircraft delivery expected in 2026 and full capability by 2028.
