FCAS Phase 1B Contract

The FCAS Phase 1B contract, awarded in December 2022 by France's DGA on behalf of France, Germany, and Spain to Dassault Aviation, Airbus, Indra, and Eumet (with partners), is worth €3.2 billion (equivalent to GBP 3.2 Bn). It funds approximately 3.5 years of work on the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) demonstrator and components, continuing Phase 1A R&D to mature key technologies, consolidate architectures, and prepare for in-flight demonstrations by 2028-2029. FCAS develops a next-generation system-of-systems including a New Generation Fighter (NGF), remote carrier UAVs, Combat Cloud, and other pillars like engines, sensors, and stealth, organized across nine technological domains with specific prime contractors.
