Quick decision context for procurement relevance and maturity.
VTT, Finland's Technical Research Centre, has awarded Thales a EUR 250,000 contract to provide its TopSky – AstraUTM uncrewed traffic management (UTM) system, including services such as UAS flight authorisation, geo-awareness, network identification, and traffic information services. This is for the U-Space Finland Precommercial Pilot Implementation project, part of VTT’s Drolo 2 initiative, aimed at developing and deploying automated, secure, scalable drone systems to support applications in logistics, agriculture, forestry, airports, and construction while complying with EU Regulation 2021/664. The project positions Finland as a leader in U-Space adoption by testing these services in a Living Lab environment in Oulu, fostering a national drone innovation ecosystem.
