The BAAINBw (Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support) is responsible for developing, testing, procuring, and managing in-service support for Bundeswehr defense materiel, including highly complex weapon systems, tanks, aircraft, and vessels. It oversees aerospace work through branches like the Bundeswehr Technical and Airworthiness Center for Aircraft, which tests, evaluates, certifies, and ensures airworthiness of military aircraft and aerial weapon systems.
